About Us:

Hi, my name is Tracy Godden I am the Founder/Owner of four "not for profit" memory cafés (two in Basildon - one in Billericay - one in Barbican London). The cafés activity programme includes activities that are stimulating and of interest to people attending, with the aim of improving mental and physical wellbeing, such as arts & crafts, singing, music, seated exercises, gardening, games, puzzles & quizzes. Increased confidence, social interaction and reduced pressures all contribute to an overall improved mental well being of people with dementia, their carers and family members. We are about to provide alternative therapies and Holistic sessions with workshops at our new café opening soon. As recent scientific studies show people who are involved in creative activities regularly can reduce significantly memory problem and manage better.

We need your help as funding from the lottery would enable us to continue & expand our services. A key outcome for the Dementia Cafés is to reduce and prevent social isolation for people with dementia and carers. This is achieved by providing regular opportunities for people to socialise with others and use their experiences to support one another, in a relaxed, informal environment, which for some people may be the only opportunity they have for social interaction with peers. The manager and volunteers are highly experienced, skilled and motivated in facilitating an environment that encourages peer support, builds their confidence and enables them to overcome barriers to socialising with others. We encourage members to continue building social networks outside of the service. Lottery funding can help us provide services that are tailored to meet the needs of people with dementia and break down the stigma attached to the disease, helps us work towards building a dementia friendly community. This in turn means that people with dementia feel they are more able to make a contribution to their community because they feel less restricted by their condition.

Please take part in the Essex lottery & support worthy causes. Good luck to you all.

Yours sincerely,

 Tracy Godden
